Bhubaneswar: The second edition of slum children talent hunt show ‘Dhool ke Phool’ commenced at Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
An initiative by volunteer organisation Yuva Vikas, the talent hunt show for the slum children, started in 2012 to identify the child prodigies from the slums, would be a televised show in its second edition. Children from around 500 identified slums in Odisha would be given a platform to showcase their talents. The audition process around the slums for these kids will start soon.
The launching event witnessed participation of Odia film and television celebrities wherein kids from the slums tied friendship bands to veteran actors Kuna Tripathy, Pinky Pradhan, Femina Miss Odisha India Priyanka Kumari, television anchors Dikshya Tiwari and Sulagna Routray, as well as rock band Vighnanz who in turn vowed to be goodwill ambassadors and also act as mentors to these kids in the respective fields.
Padmashree awardee sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik, actors Akash Das Nayak, Sabyasachi Mishra and Archita along with athlete Amiya Nayak have also pledged to be a part of the cause as goodwill ambassadors and mentor the children to hone their skills, said the organizers.
