Bhubaneswar: As Children’s Day was celebrated across all schools and organisations in Odisha, the capital city witnessed hectic efforts by mothers in preparing their kids for various fancy dress competitions organised by different schools as well as social organisations.
With multitude of efforts by parents especially mothers, children were seen donning a variety of attires including fairy, priest, Mahatma Gandhi, superheros, mythological characters like Hanuman, Ram, Sri Krishna, Chhota Bheem, cartoon characters Mickey Mouse, Motu Patlu and animals like lion, tiger, cow, teddy bear etc. Several parents hopped from one competition location to the other in the capital city to enable their ward participate in maximum number of such contests.
Many of the mothers had to put extra efforts to prepare their child for singing and dance competitions organised at some of the locations in the city as part of Children’s Day celebrations. The day also witnessed inauguration of a Children’s Literary Festival at KIIT International School which had many interactive sessions including a special session titled ‘Coffee with Ruskin’ involving patron of the fest famous litterateur Ruskin Bond.
Fourteenth edition of popular Anjali National Children’s Festival also commenced on Children’s Day with a unique carnival on the streets of Bhubaneswar. Several corporate houses and social organisations in Odisha had also organised various programmes and engagements commemorating Children’s Day. While Nalco Ladies Club celebrated Children’s Day among differently-abled children, Adani Group owned Dhamra Port
arranged port visit for 50 inmates of Yogi Russi Lachhman Das Sisu Ashram (Orphan Centre) who also participated in cultural programmes in the port premises.
