Bhubaneswar: In a novel initiative, city based non-profit organization ‘Soumya Memorial Trust’ organized a painting competition ‘Kuni Chitrakara’ for children and students of various schools of Bhubanewar and city outskirts on Sunday. Near about 100 children aged between 5 – 15 years put their hands on drawing, sketching and painting their favourite birds and animals which was the theme for this year’s competition held at Odisha Modern Art Gallery premises here. The competition, in its fourth edition this year was held in three categories as per age groups and witnessed ample participation from girls from various schools in and around the city.
The entire show was conceptualized and driven by scribe turned author and social enthusiast Ms. Saumya Parida, also the Managing Trustee of Soumya Memorial Trust. The trust would display the wonderful pieces of art by these little children at Odisha Modern Art Gallery on 20th September 2015 (Sunday), informed Saumya. Besides, nine ‘Kuni Chitrakar’ will be awarded and three Kuni Chitrakars will get free Art Coaching for one year at ‘Odisha Modern Art Gallery, she added. This year the best drawing will get chance to be printed in Coffee Mug of Enigmatic India, an organisation working for wildlife conservation in different ways, informed the organisers.
