Bhubaneswar: The results of Indian Civil Services 2014 examination published on Saturday has brought some delight to the people of Odisha as the number of qualifiers from the state witnessed a upward trend after a gap of several years in recent times.
Similar to the results at the national level where top four ranks went to women, Odisha also got an woman Ananya Das as the state topper who secured 16th rank in the All India list of qualifiers.
In total seven persons from Odisha made it to the top 100 in the All India list while the total number of ICS Examination 2014 from Odisha is over 27 which included All India services like IAS, IFS, IPS, IRS and other allied services.
Among the qualifiers 1986 born Pamela Satapathy, presently working as a faculty in Social Sciences at the city based Siksha O Anusandhan (SOA) University, secured 51 rank in the all India list. Daughter of a DRDO official R K Satapathy at HAL, Sunabeda in Koraput district of Odisha and married to an Asst. Professor at a city based nursing college, Pamela cracked the elite civil services examination in her fourth attempt this year. After completing her engineering degree she had also worked at National Council of Science and Industrial Research for over two years.
Among other women from Odisha who cleared this year’s ICS examination are Padmini Sahu (199), Satarupa Mishra (303) and Sucharita Das (711).
A total of 1236 candidates cleared the elite exam conducted by UPSC this year. The written part of Civil Services Examination, 2014 was held by the Union Public Service Commission in December, 2014 and the interviews for Personality Test held in April-June, 2015. For the first time the results were announced within four days of the completion of the interviews for personality test.
